 GOVERNOR ALEX CHIOMA OTTI INAUGURATES BOARDS IN ABIA STATE.



Abia State Governor, His Excellency, Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has inaugurated Chairmen and members of various boards of parastatals and agencies in the State, charging them to deploy their wealth of experience towards strengthening institutional leadership and accelerating development across Abia State.


The event, which attracted top government functionaries, political stakeholders and dignitaries from across the State, was graced by the presence of Ibekwe Nnamdi Chimdi, popularly known as OziomaChi, whose attendance further underscored the significance of the ceremony.


The various boards inaugurated include the Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) Management Board, the Governing Council of the Public Private Partnership and Investment Promotion Office, Abia State Rural Access Roads Agency, Abia State Roads Fund, Abia State Lottery Board, and the Abia State Library Board.


Speaking during the inauguration ceremony held at the Michael Okpara Auditorium on Thursday, May 7, Governor Otti explained that the inauguration of the boards was aimed at strengthening institutional leadership and deepening accountability within government establishments.

According to the Governor, the exercise represents a deliberate effort towards improving efficiency and ensuring effective implementation of government policies and programmes for the overall social and economic advancement of Abia State.


“This event is about deepening a culture of accountability and improving the tone and structure of efficiency across several front lines. It is also about strengthening the capacity for the implementation of government policies and programmes with a view to improving the social and economic outlook of the State,” Governor Otti stated.


The Governor advised the newly inaugurated appointees to avoid unhealthy rivalry with the management teams of their respective agencies, emphasizing that they were carefully selected based on merit, competence and proven professionalism.


“They are all excellent professionals who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields,” the Governor remarked, while assuring them of the support and resources needed to succeed in their assignments.


Governor Otti further reaffirmed the commitment of his administration towards delivering purposeful governance and sustainable development for the people of Abia State.


“We have the same commitment, enthusiasm and energy to continue the pursuit of the developmental objectives we started with from day one. If anything has changed, it is that we are now even more determined to do more for our people,” he declared.


Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated boards, the Chairman of the ABSUTH Management Board, Dr. Mrs. Ezinne Chinyere Benjamin-Kalu, thanked the Governor for the confidence reposed in them and pledged their collective commitment to supporting the administration in achieving excellence across all government agencies and parastatals.

She described the appointments as a call to service, sacrifice, accountability and results, assuring the Governor that the boards would live up to expectations.


In a chat with our correspondent shortly after the event, Ibekwe Nnamdi Chimdi commended Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for what he described as exemplary leadership qualities, visionary governance and unwavering commitment towards rebuilding Abia State.

Hon. Ibekwe Nnamdi Chimdi further affirmed his readiness to continue supporting the administration of Governor Otti, noting that the visible transformation taking place across the State deserves the encouragement and cooperation of all well-meaning Abians.


The Governor was joined at the ceremony by the Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Honourable Commissioners and other senior government appointees.
