BENDE NORTH HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY 2027:THE HISTORY, THE FALLACIES, AND THE FACTS.

BENDE NORTH HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY 2027:THE HISTORY, THE FALLACIES, AND THE FACTS.

As the 2027 electoral cycle approaches, it is both prudent and necessary to ground political conversations in verifiable records, equity, and performance. In representative democracy, leadership rotation, fairness, and continuity of effective service are not mere sentiments; they are stabilising principles that foster unity, trust, and sustainable development. When these principles are applied objectively to Bende North State Constituency, one conclusion stands out clearly: Igbere is eminently qualified to retain the House of Assembly seat in 2027. The same equally applies to OziomaChi, the current occupant.

THE POWER OF RECORDS AND HISTORICAL BALANCE:

Available historical records reveal a clear pattern of representation within Bende North. Alayi community, through Hon. Orji Lekwauwa occupied the State House of Assembly seat for twelve consecutive years. Subsequently, Hon. Nnenna Elendu served twelve years in the Federal House of Representatives, while at the same time Chief Gabriel Elendu held office as Local Government Chairman, and Chief Ngozi Chukwu Chukwu held sway in preceding years.

Item Community, on its part, has equally had its fair share of representation. The community completed its full tenure at the Abia State House of Assembly. Beyond that, Item has produced representatives at the Federal House of Representatives and even at the Senate. Any internal adjustments that occurred, such as the sharing of tenure between two cousins, remain an internal family and community matters and do not diminish the fact that Item fully occupied its constitutional slot.

Similarly, Ugwueke–Ezeukwu community enjoyed a complete eight-year tenure at the State House of Assembly. Hon. Ukwu Rocks Emma served initially, while Hon. Chijioke Chukwu completed the remaining term. The reasons Hon. Chijioke Chukwu was not returned are well known within the constituency and speaks to the electorate’s insistence on performance-based leadership.

When these facts are placed side by side, the balance becomes unmistakable: by every standard of equity and fairness, Igbere remains the least represented community in the state Assembly for Bende North constituency.

IGBERE’S MOMENT AND THE VALUE OF CONTINUITY

It is therefore significant that Igbere’s current opportunity at the Abia State House of Assembly did not come as a privilege but as a long-overdue correction in the zoning and rotation of leadership. More importantly, the current member representing Bende North State Constituency has not treated this opportunity lightly.

By all indications, he has demonstrated capacity, dedication, and a clear understanding that public service is rooted in sacrifice. His approach to representation marked by accessibility, responsiveness, and people-centered engagement has earned him goodwill across communities. These are not abstract claims; they are testimonies echoed by constituents who have seen tangible commitment and sincere effort in addressing their concerns.

PERFORMANCE AS THE TRUE BENCHMARK

Democracy thrives when performance is rewarded and mediocrity is discouraged. Across Bende North constituency, voters have shown that they value results over sentiment. This is evident in past electoral outcomes and should remain the guiding principle going forward.

The current representative from Igbere has laid a solid foundation. Cutting short such progress would not only undermine continuity but also risk disrupting the steady gains already made. Leadership is most effective when given the time and support to mature policies, deepen impact, and institutionalise progress.

EQUITY, LAW, AND MORAL IMPERATIVE:

As 2027 draws nearer, political parties and stakeholders must be guided by history, fairness, and the collective interest of Bende North. Equity demands that Igbere is not only sustained in this role but allowed to consolidate its representation. Statutorily, there is no barrier to a second term; morally and politically, there is every justification. It is a given.

Indeed, many would argue that it is not just a constitutional right but a natural and even divine order that a representative who has served diligently should be granted the opportunity to continue.

CONCLUSION:

The case for Igbere in 2027 is not built on sentiment or exclusion but on records, rotation, performance, and fairness. Other communities have had their turns some extensively across state, federal, and local levels. Igbere’s time has only just begun, and it has been marked by promise and purposeful leadership.

As the people of Bende North look ahead, wisdom lies in sustaining progress, rewarding service, and upholding equity. On all these counts, Igbere stands eminently qualified for the Bende North House of Assembly seat in 2027. Consequently, it is Dr. Alex Otti-OziomaChi Tam Tam.
