IPMAN Suspends Task Force/Surveillance And Intelligence Units Nationwide following Directive to the Inspector General of Police.

IPMAN Suspends Task Force/Surveillance And Intelligence Units Nationwide following a request to the Inspector General of Police.

In a decisive move aimed at restoring order and strengthening the operational integrity of its activities, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has officially suspended the operations of its Task Force nationwide.

The development follows a letter addressed to the Inspector General of Police by the national leadership of IPMAN under the able stewardship of Dr. Amb. Kola Adewoyin, President of the Association. In the communication, the leadership clearly outlined the need to streamline the activities of the Association, eliminate excesses, and ensure strict compliance with national laws, regulations, and internal protocols.

Acknowledging IPMAN’s concerns, the Nigeria Police Force, in its response, directed the immediate cessation of activities of the IPMAN Task Force across the federation. The letter from the Police emphasized the need for lawful conduct, warning against the misuse of association structures in ways that could disrupt public peace, economic activities, or the credibility of petroleum marketers.

Dr. Adewoyin, speaking on behalf of the leadership, described the decision as a bold step to reposition IPMAN as a law-abiding, people-focused, and ethically guided association. He stressed that IPMAN remains committed to collaborating with law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, and the Nigerian government in ensuring smooth distribution of petroleum products across the country.

“This suspension is a corrective measure, not a punitive one. It is to re-align our association with the vision of promoting transparency, discipline, and professionalism among members. Any individual or group who goes contrary to this directive will be apprehended and prosecuted in line with the laws of the land,” Dr. Adewoyin warned.

He further assured Nigerians that the suspension of the Task Force would not in any way disrupt the supply and distribution of petroleum products. Instead, it would help strengthen coordination and prevent illegal or unauthorized activities carried out under the guise of IPMAN’s authority.

The move has been widely welcomed by stakeholders across the petroleum sector, who view it as a strategic and reformative decision that will not only improve the association’s image but also foster stronger synergy with government agencies.

As IPMAN embarks on this path of restructuring and accountability, the leadership reaffirmed its unwavering dedication to ensuring that members operate within the bounds of the law while upholding the highest standards of service to the Nigerian people.
